Vancouver Eco Fashion Week

The 9th season of Eco Fashion Week was held at Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. The hall was overflowing with stylish and dazzling individuals, such as eco friendly fashion designers, style bloggers, models, producers, journalists, guests and supporters.

The opening day began by H&M showcasing its exclusive conscious collection with models walking around the hall continuously. Meanwhile, at the same time, everyone was enjoying their wine and food servings.

On the opening day of Eco Fashion Week, I also had the opportunity to spend most of my time with Kitsilano's Kitty Closet's owner, and a Vancity Buzz Contributor, Helen Siwak, who I gladly enjoyed our conversations, and her company throughout the night.

The second night at Eco Fashion Week started out with Mine and Yours, followed by a Turnabout hitting the runway. The following outfits can be worn throughout the day and night. They are simple, casual, and yet classic. The best option is to always go for a combination of light and dark-colored clothing for your everyday wear. After that, all you need is to find the right pumps (ie, red, nude or black) and of course, let us not forget the right handbag! If you are working in an office, shorts are a NO, NO!

Thrift Chic Challenge was up next. This challenge was between stylists Lucy Yun, Megan-Magdalena Bourne, and the famous Vancouver hat designer Dominique Hanke. Each stylist was given a $500 shopping spree and had to put 10 individual looks together with the money given.

Here are a few of my favorite looks of the challenge:

And finally, Carlie Wong, (our favorite designer of the night), closed the show with showcasing a stunning classic and elegant "all black" collection! Wong’s deluxe evening wear collection was crafted from 68 lbs of fabric , in which took placed during the 68 Pound Challenge by Value Village at EFW09.

Murva's Design

Our favorite collection of the night was from Murva's Design. Her collection was a representation of elegance X simplicity. All the cuts, and the usage of the creamy tone of color on each piece have truly made each single of her creations unique and have given it a taste of individuality.

Jason Matlo

Another ecofriendly, fashion designer is Jason Matlo. He recycled his previous collections of clothing in order to create another fine-looking and chic collection known as Lace x Animal Prints. Here are five of my favorite designs of his as showcased at this year's EFW.

Thank you, Eco Fashion Week for all of this year's wonderful shows! I was fascinated by the amount of work everybody engaged in to put this year's fashion week together. I will be patiently waiting for another marvelous and mind-blowing season.
